2A District 6 recap September 24, 2013
Redemptorist's Russell Gage rumbled for the longest rushing play in 2A District 6 this season in his game against Madison Prep Academy last week. Gage's team fell to Madison Prep Academy as he sprinted for 66 yards on the play and finished with 165 in all.
Capitol was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. The Lions defeated Jeanerette 58-0 earlier in the week.
Redemptorist's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Wolves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Gage has thrown for 157 yards this season, while Jawaun Sanders has 8 catches for 125 yards. Gage also leads the league in rushing with 368 yards.
Two of the top units in 2A District 6 will face off this week when Redemptorist takes on Capitol. Terrence Williams' team's offense has recorded 51 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Damieon Mills' team has permitted only 41 on the year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Istrouma takes on Episcopal. The Indians are currently in fourth, while the Knights are in first.
The Lions led the league in scoring this week after putting up 58 points on the Tigers.
