It was a good run, but the New Lothrop Hornets unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 53-46 to Ovid-Elsie. New Lothrop has not had much luck with Ovid-Elsie recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ovid-Elsie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Bates, who scored 16 points along with four steals. Bates is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailee Campbell, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
New Lothrop's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-1. As for Ovid-Elsie, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
New Lothrop will head out on the road to face off against Durand at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Durand will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 69th, while New Lothrop is ranked 18th). Ovid-Elsie will be home for the holidays to greet Chesaning at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
