Windthorst has gone a perfect 10-0 against Olney recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Trojans will take on the Cubs at 5:00 p.m. Windthorst is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Windthorst will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Electra on Tuesday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 15-0 victory. Considering the Trojans have won eight contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Delaney Ashley was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Collins Mercedante, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Courtney Peterson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Windthorst always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Electra only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Olney fell victim to Petrolia and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 9-0 to the Pirates. The Cubs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Windthorst pushed their record up to 11-7-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Olney, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8-1.
Everything went Windthorst's way against Olney in their previous meeting back in March, as Windthorst made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
