Columbiana is 8-1 against David Anderson since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Clippers will welcome the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Columbiana is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
If Columbiana beats David Anderson with 12 runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Clippers beat Wellsville on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-4. The win continues a trend for the Clippers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.
Dan Goehring made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Goehring was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, Ethan Lehnerd looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.
Back at the plate, Columbiana let Max Conway and Sam Inboden run wild. Conway scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Inboden scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Inboden has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Liam McElwain, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Columbiana kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, David Anderson came up short against Columbiana on Monday, falling 12-4. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Clippers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.
Logan Sturgeon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also put up a hit, which was his first of the season. Ashton Hinchliffe was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
The victory got Columbiana back to even at 3-3. As for David Anderson, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Columbiana has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like David Anderson struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Columbiana's way against David Anderson in their previous meeting on Monday, as Columbiana made off with a 12-4 win. Do the Clippers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
