While the Pine Knights couldn't quite beat the John Carroll Catholic Rams on Tuesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 25-point loss they were dealt last Friday. Pine fell just short of the Rams by a score of 50-47. Pine has struggled against the Rams recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Leading John Carroll Catholic to victory were Pat Silas and Collin Jefferson. Silas scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Jefferson almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Jefferson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Caden Johnson, who scored seven points.
Pine's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8. As for John Carroll Catholic, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine will take on the Cobras at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for John Carroll Catholic, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Lincoln Park Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
