Southern Wayne made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Greene Central, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The high-scoring effort was just what the Saints needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Kaeden Hinson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Odom, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Mason McKee also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

That's the fewest hits Herring has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Wilson Mayo was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Carson Tew was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Southern Wayne has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Midway struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
