There's no place like home for the Plainfield Quakers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 64-55 win over Terre Haute South Vigo on Saturday. Given Plainfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Terre Haute South Vigo is ranked 132nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Plainfield was led to victory by Collin Schmidt and Noah Smith. Schmidt dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, while Smith scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. Eli Ellis was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Terre Haute South Vigo lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Zayvion Baker, who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Morgan, who scored 20 points.
Terre Haute South Vigo struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Plainfield pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Plainfield's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Terre Haute South Vigo, they dropped their record down to 8-9 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Plainfield will square off against Greenwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Greenwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday. As for Terre Haute South Vigo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Vigo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Averaging 57.12 points so far this season, Terre Haute South Vigo's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so West Vigo better be ready for a challenge.
