Basketball Recap: Zanquel Baldwin Key Part of a Team Effort in Knights Win

Stratford lost to Colleton County back in December of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Stratford Knights came out on top in a nail-biter against the Colleton County Cougars, sneaking past 52-50. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Stratford's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zanquel Baldwin, who posted 11 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. That's the most assists Baldwin has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Peterson, who put up 11 points and six rebounds.

Colleton County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Witkin, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points. Da'Veon Varner was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Stratford is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points per game. As for Colleton County, they moved to 5-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Stratford didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-53 loss against Summerville on the 7th. As for Colleton County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 39-37 defeat against May River on the 7th.
