Ponderosa (Shingle Springs, Calif.) grabbed the lead when
Jake Bist thew a touchdown to
Austin Tibbs with 8:00 to go in the fourth quarter and held on to defeat
Sheldon (Sacramento, Calif.) 49-46 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured five lead swaps.
The teams went into the locker room at halftime deadlocked at 21. The Bruins took the lead for good on a Bist touchdown pass to Tibbs in the fourth quarter.
Ponderosa's standout player in the win was Bist. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
Team Stat made a difference for the Huskies. He threw one touchdown, ran for four touchdowns, caught one touchdown and kicked four extra points.
PHS got revenge for last year's 22-15 loss to Sheldon with the victory.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Shingle Springs school, which was coming off a 42-25 defeat at the hands of Folsom in its previous game.
