The Royal Knights lost against the Toppenish Wildcats back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Royal might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Toppenish an easy 56-32 win. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Royal has scored all season.
Toppenish found their leader in underclassman Kyra Hurley, who scored nine points along with five assists and five rebounds. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Samiah Baker, who scored five points along with four steals.
Royal bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Toppenish, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Royal will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Freeman at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Washington (Freeman is ranked 140th, while Royal is ranked 144th). Toppenish will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Timberlake at 5:00 p.m. on December 28th.
