The Western Albemarle Warriors will head out to face off against the Orange County Fighting Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Albemarle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

Western Albemarle came out on top against Albemarle on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run first inning. The Warriors put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 17-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won seven in a row.

Ava Hardy made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Western Albemarle got a massive performance out of Addy Hux, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Jillie Clark was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Western Albemarle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Albemarle only posted a batting average of .167.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Orange County was a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They fell just short of Fluvanna County by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Fighting Hornets have suffered since April 14th.

Western Albemarle's record now sits at 12-6. As for Orange County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8.

Western Albemarle was able to grind out a solid victory over Orange County when the teams last played on May 6th, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
