Central and Deshler are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Central Wildcats challenge Deshler Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Central is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Central will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Brooks, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Central came out on top against Brooks by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday.
Chloe May spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mycah Beth Ray was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Kilee Dowdy was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Deshler and Wilson, and Wilson kept the tradition alive. Deshler fell just short of Wilson by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Makayla Willingham was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Havah Standridge, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.
Central pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Deshler, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Central hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Deshler struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Central beat Deshler 10-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Central repeat their success, or does Deshler have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
