Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Hanover's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Midlothian, Hanover was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Mechanicsville Mustangs by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won five games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Marisa Sawn was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Willow Dickenson, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Hanover hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Hanover has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Mechanicsville, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-10.

Looking ahead, Hanover will venture away from home to face off against Varina at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks are facing the Blue Devils at the right time seeing as the Blue Devils are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Mechanicsville, they will take on Henrico at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least ten runs in their last five matches.
