V Section IV recap October 1, 2013
Paradise Honors was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from eighth to sixth in V Section IV. Earlier in the week, Paradise Honors triumphed over Veritas Prep 8-7.
Sequoia fell to Scottsdale Preparatory Academy 62-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Nick Smith threw for 273 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Connor Woltz made the biggest impact on defense this week as Tempe Prep bested Valley Christian. The 6-foot-1 defensive end grabbed 2.0 sacks.
Matt Munsil was the best wideout in the league this week as the Spartans topped the Stallions. Munsil tallied 2 receptions for 108 yards. Greyson Boyll helped Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 78 yards.
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's Smith and Ben McKeighan led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 1,123 yards this season, while McKeighan, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 23 catches for 476 yards. Scottsdale Christian Academy's Zechariah Gatling leads the league in rushing yards with 418.
An important game coming up in V Section IV this week will be when Will Munsil's team takes on the Eagles. The Spartans are in first place, while Scottsdale Christian Academy is in fourth place.
The league will see a high scoring game when Scottsdale Preparatory Academy and Kevin Allen's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Spartans comes in having scored 189 this season, while the Eagles have scored 135. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy scored 62 points last week as it beat Sequoia.
Austin J. Nichols' team and the Falcons played the most contested game in the league this week, with Austin J. Nichols' team eventually emerging with a 8-7 victory.
