Softball Game Preview: McQueen Lancers vs. North Valleys Panthers

For the second straight game, McQueen will face off against North Valleys. The Lancers will host the Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. McQueen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

McQueen barely beat North Valleys the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lancers put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 17-4 win on Tuesday. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Violet Moyao made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Moyao was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, McQueen let Ashlyn Guber and Vanessa Bein run wild. Guber fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-4, while Bein went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Those four runs gave Guber a new career-high. Graycee Diaz was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

McQueen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

North Valleys' loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for McQueen, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

North Valleys' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: McQueen has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for North Valleys, though, as they've been averaging 10.8 hits. Given McQueen's sizable advantage in that area, the Panthers will need to find a way to close that gap.
