East Meadow is 5-0 against Hicksville since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The East Meadow Jets will head out on the road to face off against the Hicksville Comets at 2:00 p.m. East Meadow knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Hicksville likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, East Meadow never let their opponents score. They really took it to Westbury for the full four quarters, racking up a 35-0 victory on the road. Given East Meadow's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Westbury is ranked 369th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Matt Rodriguez, who rushed for 95 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Another player making a difference was Jayson Costabile, who rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Hicksville earned a 20-7 win over Valley Stream Central on Saturday. The win was just what Hicksville needed coming off of a 27-0 defeat in their prior matchup.
East Meadow's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.5 points per game. As for Hicksville, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
East Meadow strolled past Hicksville in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a score of 21-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Meadow since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
