Potosi had lost six games straight , but after bumping their record up to 7-9 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They put the hurt on the North County Raiders with a sharp 12-5 win. Considering the Trojans have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
David Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Potosi got a massive performance out of Gavin Mosier, who went 3-for-4 with four runs and one stolen base. The Trojans are undefeated when Mosier posts three or more hits, but 4-9 otherwise. Landon Johnson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Potosi always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North County only posted an OBP of .300.
As for North County, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since March 31st.
On North County's side, they saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Helms, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Another was Tyler Pipkin, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Potosi will head out to take on Fredericktown at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for North County, they will square off against DeSoto at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
