2A-1 Region IV District 13 recap October 8, 2013
JAKE SCHMIDT of Troy ran for the longest rushing play in 2A-1 Region IV District 13 this season against Florence last week. SCHMIDT scampered for 76 yards on the play and finished with 85 on the day as his team bested the Buffaloes.
McGregor added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lago Vista, 27-21. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
McLane Carter threw for 383 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 32-53 with 3 interceptions.
Kase Spears was the best wideout in the league this week as Salado lost to Marlin. Spears tallied 11 receptions for 190 yards. Ryan Simmons helped Salado's passing attack out by catching 9 balls for 65 yards.
The Eagles' Carter and Spears led 2A-1 Region IV District 13 in both passing and receiving yards. Carter has thrown for 1,757 yards this season, while Spears has 34 catches for 626 yards. Cameron Yoe's Traion Smith leads the league in rushing yards with 877.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Troy takes on McGregor. Jay Seibert's team is in third place, while Tim Seward's team is in first place.
Little River Academy scaled the state rankings by moving to 392 from 426 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bumblebees were able to move up by falling to the Yoemen 41-10.
