The Brooks Eagles will square off against the Von Steuben Panthers at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Brooks has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Simeon hit Brooks with a nine-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles lost 16-2 to the Wolverines. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wolverines since on Thursday.
Brooks saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin White, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, while Von Steuben put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Agricultural Science. The Panthers blew past the Cyclones 13-0. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Wade Miley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Von Steuben is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-11-3 otherwise. Miley was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Christian Kobayashi, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. George Allen was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Von Steuben was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Agricultural Science only posted a batting average of .000.
Von Steuben has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Brooks, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-20 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Brooks has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Von Steuben struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Brooks might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Von Steuben in their previous matchup last Saturday. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
