Baseball Game Preview: Shoemaker Wolves vs. Copperas Cove Bulldawgs

For the second straight game, Shoemaker will face off against Copperas Cove. The Wolves will head out to square off against the Bulldawgs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Shoemaker has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Shoemaker took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Copperas Cove, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Bulldawgs on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolves have posted since March 6th.

Damian Montanez-Figueroa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Shoemaker is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-8-2 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Joephillip Guzman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

The victory got Shoemaker back to even at 9-9-2. As for Copperas Cove, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-12-1.
