Two dominant players in Keenan Garner and EJ Hazelett are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Fishers Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Franklin Central Flashes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Fishers' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Last Saturday, Fishers didn't have too much trouble with Carroll at home as they won 66-50. Given Fishers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Carroll is ranked 129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fishers relied on the efforts of Jonanthony Hall, who scored 20 points along with five assists, and Garner, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Garner is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cooper Zachary, who scored seven points.
Franklin Central posted their biggest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They really took it to Perry Meridian for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-34 win on the road. The victory was just what Franklin Central needed coming off of a 61-31 defeat in their prior match.
Fishers' win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-0. As for Franklin Central, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Fishers beat Franklin Central 53-40 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fishers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
