The Covina Colts will face off against the Mountain View Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Covina has three straight victories, Mountain View has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Covina is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against San Gabriel on Saturday as Covina made off with a 31-1 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Colts with their most commanding win of the season.
Jaylene Rodriguez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rodriguez was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. Those hits were her first of the season.
In other pitching news, Lexi Sumpter looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
