The Oakville Acorns lost against the Pe Ell Trojans back in November, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Oakville lost to Pe Ell on the road by a decisive 48-31 margin. Oakville has struggled against Pe Ell recently, as their game on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Oakville saw an underclassman step up: Ui Siufanua scored 13 points along with six rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Mendez, who scored seven points.
Oakville's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Pe Ell, the victory got them back to even at 2-2-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakville will challenge Sound Christian at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Sound Christian's defense has only allowed 25.2 points per game this season, so Oakville's offense will have their work cut out for Oakville. Pe Ell will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mossyrock at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
