After seven games on the road, Clayton is heading back home. They will take on the Arkoma Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 68-34, which was the final score in Clayton's tilt against the Panthers on Thursday.
Despite their loss, Clayton saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Shelton Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Lewis hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Brayden McDaniel was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Arkoma's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight defeat. They suffered a rough 66-41 loss at the hands of Wister. While losing is never fun, Arkoma can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 465th, while the Wildcats are ranked 222nd).
Clayton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season. As for Arkoma, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-15.
Everything went Clayton's way against the Mustangs in their previous matchup back in February of 2015 as the Bulldogs made off with a 70-45 victory. Does Clayton have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
