The Mercer County Titans's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the East Jessamine Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th.
Last Saturday, Mercer County ended up a good deal behind Bryan Station and lost 69-51. While losing is never fun, Mercer County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Bryan Station is ranked 17th).
Meanwhile, East Jessamine had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They claimed a resounding 74-43 win over Garrard County at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win East Jessamine has posted since December 5, 2023.
Keelyn Daniel was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Righteous Harris, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Mercer County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for East Jessamine, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7.
Mercer County came out on top in a nail-biter against East Jessamine in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, sneaking past 67-64. Does Mercer County have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Jessamine turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
