The Franklin Wildcats won the last time they faced the Monroe Hornets, and things went their way on Friday too. Franklin came out on top in a nail-biter against Monroe and snuck past 47-44. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Franklin.
Franklin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kai Cook, who scored 15 points along with 4 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cook has scored at least 25% of Franklin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Black, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds.
Franklin now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Monroe, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Franklin will head out on the road to face off against Preble Shawnee at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Preble Shawnee presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Franklin in Ohio (Preble Shawnee is ranked eighth, while Franklin is ranked 236th). As for Monroe, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clinton-Massie at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Clinton-Massie is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
