Softball Recap: HCYA Has No Trouble Against Cooper

HCYA won the last time they faced Cooper and things went their way on Saturday too. HCYA were the clear victor by a 12-4 margin over the Cooper Dragons. HCYA might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Milynnzi Hall made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Hall was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, HCYA let Yanaia Scott and Kaden Richardson run wild. Scott went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs, while Richardson went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Richardson has posted over her last 16 games. Another player making a difference was Eloni Preston, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

HCYA was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .455 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

HCYA is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. Cooper now has a losing record of 0-1-1.

Coming up, HCYA will be taking part in a tournament against Incarnate Word Academy at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Incarnate Word Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Cooper, they will take on First Baptist Christian in a tournament on Saturday.
