Softball Recap: Concord Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

Concord put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let the Midland Mustangs get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. Considering the Pirates have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Breanna Jones was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor White, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Concord always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Midland only posted an OBP of .182.

Concord pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Midland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Concord will head out on the road to take on Bradford at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Midland, they will square off against Melbourne at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bearkatz will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
