Baseball Recap: Canajoharie Takes a Loss

If Canajoharie was feeling good fresh off their 17-7 takedown of Mekeel Christian Academy on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars fell 10-7 to the Fonda-Fultonville Valley Hawks on Friday. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Valley Hawks from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Nicholas Barlow and Aiden Bowerman did some serious damage despite the final result: Barlow got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Bowerman went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Canajoharie is 3-1 when Barlow posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Quin Collins, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Canajoharie's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Fonda-Fultonville, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4.

Canajoharie and Fonda-Fultonville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Cougars will take on Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (172 vs. 461). Meanwhile, Fonda-Fultonville (ranked 166th) will meet Galway (ranked 338th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
