The Shawnee Mission North Bison's's found some homefield redemption this week after a tough overtime loss to the Olathe Northwest Ravens on Tuesday. Shawnee Mission North came out on top against Emporia by a score of 44-37. For Shawnee Mission North, this counts as revenge for the 59-46 loss Emporia walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Emporia's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of River Peters, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds, and Sheldon Stewart who scored 14 points. Peters scored a full 56.8% of Emporia's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Shawnee Mission North's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-2. As for Emporia, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-1.
Shawnee Mission North will head out on the road to face off against Olathe South on Friday. Emporia will be home for the holidays to greet Great Bend at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Great Bend knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Emporia likes a good challenge.
