West Branch's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Girard Indians 5-3. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Indians, too.

Ellie Tucker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Tucker was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Libbie Davis was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

West Branch hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Girard struck out nine times.

The victory got West Branch back to even at 1-1. As for Girard, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Coming up, West Branch will square off against Howland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Girard, they will take on McKinley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Girard is facing McKinley at the right time seeing as McKinley is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
