The Santa Fe Demons''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Albuquerque at home by a decisive 28-12 margin. Santa Fe lost against Albuquerque in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 28-0 score last time.
Frank Hren had an outrageously good game for Albuquerque as he rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 112 yards and a touchdown. Jesse Lujan made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Santa Fe's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. As for Albuquerque, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Fe will take on Capital at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Capital has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 18. As for Albuquerque, they will head out on the road to face off against Manzano at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Manzano is ranked 59th, while Albuquerque is ranked 40th).
