The Carlisle Thundering Herd will take on the Northern York Polar Bears at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
If Carlisle beats Northern York with ten runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Thundering Herd didn't even let Red Land on the board on Thursday, marking the Thundering Herd's second-straight 10-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thundering Herd.
Carlisle got a massive performance out of Lucas Ream, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Ream has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bradyn Sober, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Northern York got themselves on the board against Big Spring on Thursday, but Big Spring never followed suit. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over the Bulldogs. The contest marked the Polar Bears' most dominant win of the season so far.
Not much got past Collin McDonald, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Big Spring off the board. McDonald has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Oskar Dees was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season. Matthew Kendall was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
Carlisle's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Northern York, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Carlisle hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Northern York struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Carlisle skirted past Northern York 4-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Thundering Herd repeat their success, or do the Polar Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
