Basketball Recap: Utopia Piles Up the Points Against Nueces Canyon

Utopia won the last time they faced Nueces Canyon and things went their way on Monday too. The Utopia Buffaloes simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Nueces Canyon Panthers 76-36. The Buffaloes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Utopia got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brayden Long out in front who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jett Smothers, who had 11 points.

The win made it two in a row for Utopia and bumps their season record up to 21-4. As for Nueces Canyon, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 16 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-21 record this season.

When Utopia and Nueces Canyon next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Utopia will try to stop D'Hanis' four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Utopia is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.6 points per game this season. Similarly, Nueces Canyon will face off against Comstock and their three-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
