Basketball Recap: Bishop Gorman Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Bishop Gorman lost against Dallas Christian back in February of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Bishop Gorman Crusaders took a 65-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dallas Christian Chargers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Crusaders came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Chargers are ranked 1004th).

Bishop Gorman lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaylon Miles, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 assists. Miles has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Ryan Richbourg was another key player, putting up 18 points and six steals.

Even though they lost, Bishop Gorman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Dallas Christian was led to victory by Quintin Hankins and Cason Walker. Hankins went 8 of 16 on his way to 20 points along with eight boards and five assists, while Walker went 7 of 10 on his way to 16 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Hankins a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Vernon Davis, who posted six points and ten rebounds.

Bishop Gorman's defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 15-5. As for Dallas Christian, with the win, they broke their nine-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-15.

Bishop Gorman will face off against McKinney Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McKinney Christian Academy will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Bishop Gorman surely won't give up without a fight. As for Dallas Christian, they will take on Shelton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dallas Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
