The Holy Cross Knights pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 63-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mary Louis Academy. Even though they lost, Holy Cross' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.2 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Holy Cross' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mona Okorie, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 rebounds and nine blocks, and Kyara Champagne who scored 34 points. Okorie is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season. Jamie Davneiro was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Holy Cross has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Mary Louis Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holy Cross will take on St. Francis Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Holy Cross focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday. As for Mary Louis Academy, they will be playing at home against Nazareth on Saturday. Mary Louis Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 561 points over their last nine matches.
