After flying high against the Statesville Greyhounds last Friday, the St. Stephens Indians came back down to earth. St. Stephens took a 49-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Foard. St. Stephens found out winning isn't easy when your three-point shooting is a whole 22% worse than the opposition.
St. Stephens lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Molli Harris, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Harris has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Gibbs, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Foard's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Davoney Dellinger, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Dellinger hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinzer Abernathy, who scored 15 points.
St. Stephens has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. As for Foard, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
St. Stephens will head out on the road to square off against West Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Foard, they will be playing at home against North Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
