The Beech Grove Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to Indianapolis Lutheran. While losing is never fun, Beech Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while Indianapolis Lutheran is ranked 133rd).
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Simeon Mcintosh, who scored 11 points. Tyris Reid was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Beech Grove's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Indianapolis Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beech Grove will take on Indianapolis Scecina Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Indianapolis Lutheran will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st. One thing working in Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
