The Pawnee Heights Tigers were the 58-34 winner over the Deerfield Spartans when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Pawnee Heights took a 55-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Deerfield on Tuesday. Pawnee Heights has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Pawnee Heights' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Davin Hamby, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Brady Carlson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Deerfield found their leader in underclassman Colten Musil, who scored 25 points. Musil continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Lira, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Pawnee Heights has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Deerfield, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pawnee Heights will face off against Ingalls at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Pawnee Heights is coming into the contest with six straight defeats on the road, meaning Ingalls will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Deerfield, they will face off against Greeley County on Friday. Deerfield is facing Greeley County at the right time seeing as Greeley County is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
