The Aldine Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell to Eisenhower 43-37. Aldine was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Eisenhower apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Porsha Daniels and Melanie Umanzor certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Daniels dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Umanzor scored nine points along with 11 blocks. Umanzor is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 13 games she's played.
Genesis Watson was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 15 points along with four steals. Keiora Gaines was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Aldine bumped their record down to 3-22 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.4 points per game. As for Eisenhower, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-18.
Aldine will take on Westfield at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Westfield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Aldine in Texas (Westfield is ranked 641st, while Aldine is ranked 1308th). As for Eisenhower, they will head out on the road to square off against Nimitz at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Nimitz focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
