The Woodcreek Timberwolves are taking a road trip to challenge the Christian Brothers Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Woodcreek has three straight wins, Christian Brothers has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Woodcreek had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Rio Americano on Monday. The Timberwolves put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 13-3 victory. Considering the Timberwolves have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Maryn Macneil spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Woodcreek got a big performance out of Leena Well, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave Well a new career-high. Nicole Fonti was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Christian Brothers faced off against Vista del Lago on Monday. The Falcons fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1.
Jaden Fonts was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Fonts was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles.
Fonts wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Machenzie Aurich, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Woodcreek's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Christian Brothers, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Woodcreek was able to grind out a solid win over Christian Brothers in their previous meeting back in March, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Timberwolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
