The Chincoteague Ponies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 63-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Nandua. Chincoteague has struggled against the Warriors recently, as their match on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Ponies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jake Harper, who scored 14 points along with seven assists. Jordan Harper was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven assists and two blocks.
Nandua's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cody Ragone, who scored 16 points. It was the first time this season that Ragone scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Makai Dorn, who scored 13 points.
Chincoteague's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Nandua, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chincoteague will take on the Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Averaging 75.87 points so far this season, Northampton's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Ponies better be ready for a challenge. As for Nandua, they will head out on the road to take on the Islanders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Poquoson is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
