There's no place like home for the North Henderson Knights, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Pisgah by a score of 82-75 on Thursday. Given North Henderson's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Pisgah is ranked 262nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Henderson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Coronell led the charge by scoring 19 points along with three steals and three blocks. It was the first time this season that Coronell scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Pierce, who scored 21 points.
When it comes to explaining why Pisgah lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jake Lowery. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with three steals. Mason Putnam was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
North Henderson's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Pisgah, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
North Henderson won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Smoky Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. North Henderson is facing Smoky Mountain at the right time seeing as Smoky Mountain is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Pisgah, they will head out on the road to challenge Franklin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Pisgah's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests.
