It was a good run, but the Eastside Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Woodmont by a score of 69-66. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Eastside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Justin Ray. Despite the final result, he scored 34 points. Ray scored a full 51.5% of Eastside's points, the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Matthew Roberts, who scored 18 points.
Eastside's loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Woodmont, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Eastside won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Daniel at 4:00 p.m. on January 6th. Daniel is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Woodmont, they will be playing at home against J.L. Mann at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. J.L. Mann is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
