Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Faith Christian posted their biggest win yet this season on Thursday. They put the hurt on Buckingham Charter with a sharp 49-29 win. The victory was just what Faith Christian needed coming off of a 75-25 defeat in their prior matchup.
Faith Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cedric Smith led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Smith is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Alec Oakley was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
In what's become a running theme this season, Valley Christian gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 74-9 win over Cristo Rey at home. The win was familiar territory for Valley Christian who now have four in a row.
Valley Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Matthew Larson out in front who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Glaspy, who scored seven points along with nine assists and seven rebounds.
Faith Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 3-10 record this season. As for Valley Christian, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-8.
Thursday's contest will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Smith and Chase Clary. Smith has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 16.8 points, 5 steals, and 1.4 blocks. For his part, Clary has averaged 19.2 points, 2.1 steals, and 5.1 rebounds.
Faith Christian took a serious blow against Valley Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 91-50. Can Faith Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
