Pottsville has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Jim Thorpe Olympians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Pottsville is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Jim Thorpe in Pennsylvania (Pottsville is ranked 174th, while Jim Thorpe is ranked 393rd).
Pottsville scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They breezed by Tamaqua at home to the tune of 74-47.
Pottsville found their leader in underclassman Christian Alvarez, who scored 26 points. The contest was Alvarez's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Watkins, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Jim Thorpe, who are still winless after their fifth match. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 58-36 walloping at the hands of Lehighton on Monday.
Pottsville now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Jim Thorpe, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Pottsville was able to grind out a solid win over Jim Thorpe when the teams last played back in January, winning 49-42. Will Pottsville repeat their success, or does Jim Thorpe have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
