The East Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Middle Early College Kats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. East is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
East pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 79-60 fall against McKinley. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (57), East still had to take the loss.
The losing side was boosted by Mysean Morrison, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhondell Johnson, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Middle Early College pushed their score all the way to 66 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Lockport by a score of 69-66.
East's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-6. As for Middle Early College, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
East didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Middle Early College when the teams last played back in February, but they still walked away with a 55-51 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for East since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
