The Lytle Pirates will challenge the Dilley Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lytle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Lytle came up short against Cotulla and fell 10-5. The Pirates have struggled against the Cowboys recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Anissa Perez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Dilley hadn't done well against Hondo recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Wolves were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Owls. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
Izabella Proctor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Proctor was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, Dilley got a big performance out of Madelyne Proctor, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Proctor has posted since back in April of 2025. Danica Cano was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Dilley's victory bumped their record up to 12-7-1. As for Lytle, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14-2.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lytle has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. However, it's not like Dilley struggles in that department as they've averaged .475. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lytle couldn't quite get it done against Dilley in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 8-3. Will the Pirates have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
