If The Americas Trail Blazers were feeling good off their 38-0 takedown of the El Dorado Aztecs last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Americas took a 28-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of Coronado. Americas was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Coronado apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Mark Moore iii and Abdiel Rincon, Americas certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Moore iii threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per attempt, while Rincon picked up 142 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Rincon was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 61 yards.
Coronado was led to victory by Cason Golding and Ben Wilson. Golding picked up 121 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Wilson rushed for 104 yards.
Americas' defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Coronado, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Socorro the next time they take the field. Coronado will host Socorro at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Americas will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
