Homewood-Flossmoor is 0-9 against Lincoln-Way Central since April of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Vikings will square off against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Homewood-Flossmoor has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Homewood-Flossmoor managed to slip by Andrew the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Vikings came up short against the Thunderbolts on Wednesday, falling 12-2.
Elodie Sullivan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way Central came tearing into Thursday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the North Stars a 4-0 shutout.
Not much got past Lisabella Dimitrijevic, who gave up just a hit and racked up 18 Ks to keep St. Charles North off the board. Dimitrijevic has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kayla Doerre, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
Lincoln-Way Central pushed their record up to 21-1 with the win, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Homewood-Flossmoor hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lincoln-Way Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Homewood-Flossmoor might still be hurting after the 17-7 loss they got from Lincoln-Way Central in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
